2. Brainstorming session to discuss a new collaborative project - creating a TUScholarShare communications toolkit for librarians

Update on the TUScholarShare soft launch and first round of beta testers

• 6 beta testers currently

• Throughout the month, have been attempting submissions and already running into issues/questions

  • ex. submitting websites: Alicia might talk with Stefanie about that

• Reach out to faculty members next month – trying to keep the numbers small (approx. 8)

  • Going to experiment with both mediated (ex. CV review) and non-mediated workflows

  • Ex. papers from SSRN for batch uploading

  • Need to set clear expectations about where responsibilities lie for mediated workflows

• No news about the procurement process for the vendor contract

TUScholarShare Communications Toolkit brainstorming doc

• Role of SCSST to ongoing TUScholarShare work --- developing this Communications Toolkit

• Could take the form of LibGuide/webpage or an internal document

• Need to foster broader advocacy for OA initiatives while also address need for discipline-specific guidance

  • Ex. English department strategy different than we would use in Physics

• See Google Doc for brainstorming ideas

Next Steps

• Need to determine what the scope of that toolkit is and what this team will start to work on

• May reach out to Penn Libraries to chat about their approach
