Notes

  1. Update on transition to LibInsight: it happened last week; Nancy will give session on Wednesday

  2. More concrete planning for next LSS Forum

    1. When should we host it?

      1. Caitlin will send a poll for new time

      2. Nancy and Anne Harlow agreed to come so will be included in poll; Anne has concerns about absence of “events” which doesn’t fit as neatly.

    2. What is our goal?

      1. Norming for form; activity around types of instruction (scenarios)?

      2. Visioning about instruction? Some type of “think-pair-share”? Goal for individual instruction vs. program as a whole?

      3. Other ways for people to participate if they cannot attend.

      4. Two meetings: one for larger program conversation; one for improving the form; maybe closer in time ( a week or two apart)

    3. What guiding questions do we want to ask?

      1. What would you want your instruction to be in an ideal situation?

      2. How to guide faculty to more meaningful instruction?

      3. Include something about student outcomes

      4. What are people currently doing and what they hope students are getting out of it?

      5. Start from student outcomes and work up to program outcomes?

      6. What do we think students are currently learning and what do we want the outcomes to be? What is the most valuable thing students are leaving with and what are they missing?

      7. Assignment design => sometimes get imperfect assignments from faculty

      8. Larger concepts vs. transactional instruction

  3. Other updates (repository, summer workshops, etc.)

    1. Repository: still working through standards, more to come

    2. Summer workshops: 11 scheduled
