Discovery Updates 3/5/2018
Blacklight
The beta version of the Blacklight search is now available: https://librarybeta.temple.edu. While Primo will continue to serve as the main search until the summer, this beta will offer library patrons and staff a sneak peek at the work in progress on our future discovery platform.
While some development work has continued since the beta release on February 12th, this project will be starting up again in full force this week. The Library Technology Development team is focusing initially on addressing unresolved issues that did not make it into the beta release, including system bugs and record management options. Later in March and April, we will to work on additional features/enhancements, including the integration of the article index (Primo Central Index) and other data sources.
A working group from the Strategic Partners team has also been formed to conduct user testing with library patrons, focusing on existing features in the beta release. As library staff, you can also submit feedback by filling out this public form or by emailing Emily Toner (emily.toner@temple.edu) directly.
Primo
There were no major Primo updates since the last blog update.
With the Primo February 2018 release, a bug was introduced, causing the following message to appear for some known item searches: “Showing expanded results. Your search resulted in no hits. The results below were found by expanding your search. MAY WE SUGGEST: Shorten your query length." These false positives occur only when searching both the Alma catalog and the article index together. This high-priority issue has been submitted to Ex Libris support. We will continue to report on the progress and resolution of issues such as this, as they are addressed by Ex Libris staff.
Please email tul-web-support@temple.edu to submit issues related to the Primo user interface/search, indexing, and related Alma integrations. To follow the progress of ongoing bugs and improvements, see the TUL Web Support issue tracker: https://tulibdev.atlassian.net/projects/WEB/issues.
