Charge to the LibGuides Review Project Group
The Temple University Libraries LibGuides Review Project Group is charged with establishing a process to allow for the systematic review of proposed and existing LibGuides. The Project Group should address:
- The composition of the review team, how members are appointed and the duration of a term on the review team;
- The criteria used to evaluate guides and mechanics of the review process (e.g., how are guides submitted for review; how authors will be notified of the outcome of the review process; propose design and content standards for LibGuides; timeline for repeat reviews; etc.);
- The need for a “pre-authoring” review to determine if a guide is necessary (does it adequately differ from existing guides) and if the author is the appropriate person to produce that guide;
- The extent to which Law and HSL should be included in this process or if they should manage their own review process (if they choose to establish it) – or whether a minimal review is needed to address potential duplication and overlap if not complete review of their guides;
- The accommodation of “last-minute guides” needed to satisfy requests for course-related instruction;
- The process and timeline for recertification of a previously approved guide (e.g., will the review team take into account guide usage in recommending action)
Membership Terms
Review Project Group members are appointed by the Associate University Librarian. Their term will begin by the end of the spring 2017 semester. The Review Project Group will submit its report to the LibGuides Administrators Group by August 31, 2017. The Project Group will terminate when the formal LibGuides Review Team is established.
