Admin landing page

Question: How much time will this work take and is it still a priority compared with other work that will need to be done that is more front-end user facing?

Answer: Having this landing page will make content management significantly easier in implementing a content maintenance calendar. Right now, there is no such calendar.

COVID updates on individual pages

This also includes the discussion of the single page “What to expect when visiting us in person” page that lists all sorts of pertinent content in one place.

  • Example: Get a library card - there is a lot of content here that is not up to date.

  • Maybe we should identify a number of pages that are most crucial

  • the one-page does not have any community user information

Feedback

  • some in the group were in favor of keeping all of the updates in one place.

  • Beckie, as the primary editor of this one-page, says that we need to start gathering information and updating the page for the spring semester.

Background

  • to compile information for this page, only included specific content that was provided by department heads - did not solicit a wide amount of information.

Next steps

  • we need to continue this conversation at the next meeting in December.

Search box text

The group determined that it would be appropriate to modify the text in the search box to remove “Search Everything” and replace it with “Search books, articles, the library website and more…”

Drop-down menus

Background

  • The need for drop-down menus came up in testing that Olivia, Tom and Jackie did over the summer

  • Nancy expressed unqualified enthusiastic support for drop-down menus

Implementation details

  • make sure that the menus don’t go below the fold and/or block the call-to-action buttons

  • Contact Us page - do not add a drop-down here

Library Search FAQ info on the web/LibAnswers

use case: Looking for a way to communicate some of the underlying search algorithm in Library Search. The current Library Search FAQ hasn’t been updated since the initial launch and contains a lot of references to Millennium.

From Emily: We need clarification about where Library Search information, FAQ's, and tips should go. Currently, they are in a couple different places:
