Open the patron services workbench by navigating to the blue Alma logo → Fulfillment → Checkin/Checkout → Manage Patron Services
Swipe the patron's ID card or enter their TUID number or name. Click OK to open the patron's record.
A pop-up message will appear to say that the account is blocked because of the amount owed in fines and fees. Anyone with the Circulation Desk Manager role can override this block. Click Override to proceed.
In the patron's profile, you will see "Active Balance" with a linked dollar amount. Click on the dollar amount to view a breakdown of the fines and fees.
In addition to seeing the entire list of fines and fees, you can add a manual fine or fee or you can waive the entire amount or the fine/fee for an individual item.
To waive the fee for an individual item, select the Actions button next to the item. Then select Waive.
Review the amount that will be waived and then select the reason for waiving the fine. Click Waive to complete.
To exit the patron's detailed account view, click Cancel in the upper right hand corner. Do not hit the back button.
If the patron would like to pay the remainder of their balance, please accept their payment through their preferred payment method. Then on the patron's account, select Pay.
Complete the applicable fields in the fine payment form. For this demonstration, the patron will only pay certain fines, not all of them. To select which fines will be paid, click the little blue arrow at the right hand side of the Fines to Pay box.
Select the fines and fees that will be paid by clicking in the box to the left of the item. Then click Select.
Select the payment method. This will be different for circulation desks depending on what methods of payment are allowed at your circulation desk. Also, the Payment Amount will calculate automatically from the loans that you selected to pay in the previous screen. Click Send to proceed.
You will be asked to confirm the payment. Click Confirm to proceed.
The balance of fines and fees on the patron's account is now reduced by $200.
An email notification is sent to the patron as a receipt of their payment.
