Attendees
Fred Rowland (Unlicensed), Emily Toner, Noa Kaumeheiwa, Rachel Appel (Unlicensed), Gabe Galson, Annie Johnson (Unlicensed), Alicia Pucci
1. Welcome Alicia!
2. Update on DSpace, LTD support, and project timeline
- The plan- soft launch in fall, migrate to hosted instance in spring
- LTD can't support a locally hosted dspace long term
Questions...
How does the state of the Elements project affect this decision?
- The repository connector must still be licensed separately
- Something we'll be exploring with Atmire: is it possible to do this without the connector?
Is it worth looking at other options since we're at this point?
- Dspace will allow the project to move more quickly; the repo we have can be populated starting in the summer, and the vendor can do the migration work as a part of the contract
2. Defining a "soft launch" for the fall
- See this document for a list of system requirements that should be in place at launch
- Do we want Data in the repository at soft launch? Tentatively, yes.
- New theme. This can be customized through the CSS.
Idea- involve ref librarians in the process of locating articles. To be discussed further.
Question- how are we going to frame the soft launch to faculty, library staff
- Is it a 'beta'?
Gabe Galson will fully scope login/authentication options, confirm what is needed with Annie and Alicia
Annie Johnson (Unlicensed) and the services group will Advisory text on the beta launch will be drafted. The group will think about how to communicate with the wider community about the soft launch.
Decision: no DOIs in the interim system
