Standards document 

Emily noted concerns about a lack of clarity about what is required vs. optional and that we need to be more clear about this. There should be consistency about how we denote required elements and stronger language. One suggestion is that these could be visually set apart in the standards LibGuide. Emily also advocated for consolidating some content/sections for length. We also agreed that we will wait to create the LibGuide of the document content until after the standards are reviewed by the LibGuides Administrators group.

Review document(s)

Nancy gave us an overview of her progress on the review process document and had some questions for the group to consider. Nancy asked about the request to author topic guides and if there could be potential issues with determining who the appropriate author or "expert" for a topic guide is. This will be somewhat subjective and noted as a topic for the training of the review team. 

Remaining Tasks and timeline 

Remaining tasks were reviewed with discussions focusing on two specific tasks: 1) identifying an external reviewer for the document and 2) tools for communication between guide author and review team during review process. Two staff were suggested as reviewers, and Jackie will check with them and their supervisors to see if this work is feasible. Emily also noted that we might ask Dave or Cynthia to review it. We will also need to provide the reviewers with specific instructions about what they should do with the standards document (e.g. what types of things to look for as they are reading it). For the review process communication tools, Emily recommended a simple approach, using as few additional tools as possible. 

Jackie will also talk with Steven about a new deadline.

  • All - Review suggestions/comments for sections you wrote. Approve/reject suggestions and revise any sections necessary.
