Key Activities and Accomplishments FY 17-18
- The Press published 45 books and 4 journal issues in FY18.
Notable titles include
Philadelphia: Finding the Hidden City
The Cost of Being a Girl
Healing Our Divided Society: Investing in America
Fifty Years after the Kerner Report
Who Will Speak for America?
and the 20th anniversary edition of The Possessive Investment in Whiteness: How White People Benefit from Identity Politics.
- Press books won 8 awards in FY18 and were reviewed, featured, or excerpted in Publishers Weekly, Inside Higher Ed, the Chronicle of Higher Education, NPR, The Philadelphia Inquirer, WHYY, The Washington Post, Time magazine, as well as numerous scholarly journals.
- The first 6 titles in the NEH Humanities Open Book Program were released on the Press website with new forewords and covers.
- The remaining 24 will be released over FY19, with 5 more released as of 8/24/18.
- Three Press titles of the nine submitted were accepted for the next round of Knowledge Unlatched. Over 1250 titles were submitted, of which 35% were selected. Press titles have been included in every round.
- The Press was one of six presses invited by the Association of University Presses to participate in a pilot with Altmetric on assessing the gathering of altmetrics for books.
- The Press and University of Michigan Press participated in a pilot with the Library of Congress on using ONIX to create electronic CIP records. This pilot is ongoing.
