SCSST will be featured in August. Bullet points will highlight our work with liaisons, IR, and our upcoming 2018-2019 events. Will also mention that Maria will be our fall intern.
Schol Comm Intern
Maria Aghazarian starts tomorrow! Annie will take her around the library and will introduce her to the rest of the schol comm team.
Training for Staff Related to Schol Comm Skill Areas
Workshop scheduled for Research Impact to be led by Kristina and Rachel on August 21st @ 11:00 am.
Do we need workshops for all skill areas? Should we do some discussion sessions instead (such "community of practice around open education")?
In terms of staff education related to schol comm and info lit for undergrads, should we wait until the Learning and Student Success is formed? Consensus is yes.
Open Education Discussion
Open education seems to be an area many liaisons are interested in focusing on.
Instead of workshop, we will plan a discussion that involves people with a range of experiences related to open education. These folks will discuss their experiences on the ground at Temple, as well as state, national, and international issues related to open education.
Potential folks to be involved: Steven, Urooj, Kristina, Rebecca, Annie, other liasions who have worked with faculty on TAP proposals?
Annie will ask Steven and Urooj about availability in November
Spring 2019
Work with Learning and Student Success team to develop an event for staff related to integrating scholarly communication with information literacy
External Resources for Staff Doc
This will be a living document and we will continue to add
Stephanie Roth (Unlicensed) will create a Google doc: Quick things a librarian can take and drop into instruction without a lot of work (on topics such as fair use, predatory publishing). We will all add to it.
Once Learning and Student Success team is formed, we will work with them to develop the doc and finalize
Institutional Repository
Discussion about what are next best steps re: policies and procedures documents? Decision: gather more info from other libraries.
Rachel Appel (Unlicensed) will reach out to UT Austin (Colleen Lyon) and Cornell (Jim DelRossa) re: setting up an IR meeting.
Goal is once we talk to a few other schools we can finalize the first three sections of our policy documents (purpose, content, user communities). Then we can share with LTD and others.
