Recognizing that leadership, innovation, creativity, and dynamism in any enterprise are the product of personal commitment and staff empowerment, the libraries will create a flexible and forward-looking work environment that embraces transparent management practices, clear communication channels, individual accountability, fiscal responsibility, efficiency, a culture of experiment and continuous learning, opportunities for growth, and work-life balance, with the goal of becoming a model organization for contemporary research libraries.

  • We will continue to learn from each other, keep procedures on Confluence so we can all perform multiple functions, and learn from staff at Charles as opportunities permit.

  • Continue professional development and networking opportunities.

Health Sciences Libraries*

  • HSL/STEB librarians will select & complete a project related to competencies in one of the four following areas: scholarly communication, teaching, research data management or systematic reviews

Learning & Research Services - Arts, Humanities & Media

  • Hire, train, and support Part Time Temporary Reference and Instruction Librarian. Reassign RL's duties to ensure 

Learning and Research Services - Business, Social Sciences & Education 

  • Creating a repository of shared instructional materials
  • Cultivate a team approach to supporting business research and instruction

Learning and Research Services - Science, Technology, Engineering & Biomedicine

  • Each librarian will select one competency from the Scholarly Communication Competencies
  • Each librarian will select one competency from the Educational Competencies and work with the Education Services Librarian
  • As the Faculty Profile Builder moves to new colleges liaisons for those colleges will work with with the Research Information Management/SE team and college administration

  • Document LTD servers - continue documentation of local and cloud hosted serves facilitating locally development library systems.

  • Digital Preservation / Isilon - continue strategizing potential changes to existing digital preservation system including workflows, content relationship with access systems, and staff access to archive.

  • Refactor Ansible Playbooks - Continue server deployments to scripted environment

Library Technology & Development - Digital Scholarship Center

  • Hire makerspace manager

Library Technology & Development - Metadata & Digitization Services

  • Improve accessibility of TU digital content by implementing CONTENTdm responsive interface.
  • Continue to make new information resources available to our users through ongoing cataloging and digitization efforts, including exposing hidden collections and unique materials.
  • Assist in preserving Temple University web-based assets by continuing to collaborate with SCRC to add web content to the Temple University Special Collections archived websites collection in Archive-It, and by continuing to collaborate with SCRC to build metadata profiles and capture data for websites related to Temple University.

Library Technology & Development - Project Coordination*

  • Create a comprehensive method for tracking and replacing staff-allocated technology that best supports library staff as they work both in the office and remotely.

Organizational Research & Strategy Alignment

  • Assess the effectiveness of strategic steering team model and use results to increase team cross-functional, team based innovation work at libraries.
  • Establish structure for Data Task Force and develop scope/groups.
  • Work with team leads/department heads to attach assessment plan to goals for FY18-19.

Outreach & Communication*

  • The Outreach & Communications SST will continue to organize AMA sessions and finish the staff communications toolkit.
  • The Outreach and Communications department will once again attend the Library Marketing and Communications Conference this year as a team, and pursue various professional development activities on their own.

Scholarly Communication

  • Continue to coordinate with Learning and Research Services (LRS) Unit Heads to systematically incorporate scholarly communication work into liaison librarian activities. Assess the outcome of our work.

Special Collections Research Center

  • Support extensive SCRC staff participation in library and archival professional development and association activities.
