Agenda
Welcome back, everyone!
Update on IR Progress
Soft launch version customizations
Soft launch in progress
Procurement process
Metadata issues
DOIs- should they be assigned to ETDs? Retroactively? Moving forward?
ADA statement in field
More granular issues will be addressed via email or slack
Next steps
Granular cleanup of ETD Metadata-
How will this work happen? Through this group? Through a subgroup?
How to resolve outstanding questions about dataset metadata and policy? Perhaps we can call a meeting (selected IR Metadata team members + Annie, Gabe, Gretchen, Fred) to finalize dataset work
Meeting schedule
This should continue to meet on an as-needed basis
Questions for Metadata group: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13FVhTLw5CExQnvFsRPHwuAnXo5GoLrrX5tfOWPXEN_g/edit
Notes
You can leave the group; this is a good transition point
Moving to Atmire Open Repository DSpace, hence the very soft launch
In procurement process
Full migration will be in spring
Beta testers for soft launch: scholarshare.temple.edu
Had live demo and asked them to start submitting content through quick deposit form and the CV scraping service
Housing theses and dissertations
Not tweaking anything now since it’s just a soft launch and moving to a vendor
Documentation site: https://tulibdev.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TUSS
Selected 10 faculty who publish OA to share
Everything currently has very rich metadata because it is a sample
How much metadata should be included?
How can we maintain that level?
Example: https://scholarshare.temple.edu/handle/20.500.12441/864?show=full
Can groups have their own collections?
Met with Office of Sustainability and Law School
Should they provide help with maintenance? Provide funding?
Some institutions charge at certain point for space to use it
Balance of buy-in and overwhelming need; know limits
DOIs
Did subscribe to DataCite
Our opinion is to create new ones moving forward and just import the ProQuest ones into ScholarShare; if there are none in ProQuest then create new ones
More of a policy question
ADA statement
Include DSpace metadata field “ADA Note field”
Alicia will create field and Rachel add it to the MAP
Granular metadata clean up
Need to check in with Holly
Meeting
Meet as needed, most questions will be handled over email and slack
