Supporting Strategic Actions
The Outreach and Communications Strategic Steering Team is a cross-functional group of library staff. As a team, we aim to support the following TULUP strategic actions:
- Enriching the environment for learning and student success;
- Developing programs, services, and resources to enhance intellectual productivity, scholarly infrastructure, new modes of research, and clinical care services;
- Seeking partners in innovation and experimentation to add value to library programs and to identify new avenues for economic support;
- Serving as a center of intellectual and cultural life;
- Sharing the vision, making connections, broadening support.
Goals
Our team will work toward the following objectives in 2018.
Internal Communications
- Survey staff about current communication/outreach strategies & challenges
- Begin series of informal “chat sessions” for staff to hear about specific departments/projects
- Create and maintain all staff Google calendar
External Communications
- Programming: oversee formation of new group with the goals of assessing current practices and promoting academic integration and community involvement
- Create a best practices guideline document for facilitating outreach (everything from how to get something on social media or the website, to best practices for e-blasts, to what to say if approached by a journalist, etc.)
