  • Communicate local DSpace ->OpenRepository migration plan

    • Yet-undefined. Timeline is dependant on meeting with OpenRepository. However let’s review the following plan for soundness.

    • Tentatively…

      1. General ETD cleanup that has been done so far (documented here)

      2. Resolve Embargo issues… this sheet needs to be 100% accurate

        1. Stefanie Ramsay (Unlicensed) is updating the sheet. She is updating the records in CDM as well. and will touch base when the cleanup is finished.

      3. Legacy ETDs will be migrated from Local DSpace to OpenRepository (via a sheet cleaned up in Refine by Alicia and Gabe in a manner approved by Holly)

        1. Stefanie will deliver the sheet; Alicia and Gabe will check back in with MADS on the freeze on CDM metadata

      4. Atmire will set up our connection to ProQuest as a part of migration- this may require MADS input, and we’ll need to answer metadata questions quickly to do this within our setup work budget.

        1. Gabe and Alicia will report back to MADS on the specifics of the ProQuest ingest; how fully can our PQ->DSpace mapping be applied? Will we need to

      5. ETDs will be migrated to OpenRepository, tested, and integrated into MADS workflows

      6. ETDs will continue to be managed through CONTENTdm until MADs is ready to switch

      7. Stefanie will manage the decommissioning of the ETD collection in CDM (as defined in this hazier project plan)

      8. MADS/Alicia will initiate granular cleanup as schedules and workloads permit

  • Embargo sheet issues

    • Update from Stefanie… she will check in with group when cleanup is complete

  • Define MADS needs re: ETD metadata in OpenRepository (regular workflows)

    • WorldCat

      • How does this get there? Manual work? OAI-PMH?

        • Currently MADS initiates these harvests; we’re in control of the endpoint

        • For the new workflow, MADS would want to harvest in-house from the OpenRepository OAI endpoint and transform into MARC, which is sent to WorldCat. Holly will have to rewrite a transform that already exists

    • OATD & NDLTD

      • How does this get there? Manual work? OAI-PMH?

        • They harvest from ContentDM’s endpoint. They initiate the harvest.

        • When it’s ready, Gabe Galson will provide info to Holly/MADS on OpenRepository’s endpoints

    • Library Search

      • This work is in the pipeline but hasn’t been scheduled yet.

      • The MARC work is extremely important, as it provides the most obvious path to ETDs through library search, pre-integration of ETDs

    • Where else is this metadata going and how must it get there?

  • Sketch out MADS needs re: ETD metadata in OpenRepository (TacoCat; meeting notes)

    • Tacocat timeline

  • Plan for transitioning to OpenRepository as the ETD repo.

    • Another meeting with digitization practices?

Notes

-Alicia and Gabe will redo their refine work with a new export sheet from CONTENTdm.

-The catalog will need to be backfilled so that each ETD has a catalog record.

This is creating a user experience/discoverability issue due to the way they’re [barely] integrated into library search

-The ETD migration will be handled after the main migration and will be tightly coordinated with MADS. It will not hold up the migration, but MADS may have to take a bit of extra time with the migration.

-Gabe and Alicia will find out exactly how auto applying embargoes works in OpenRepository

-Timeline: the January ingest will happen through CDM but the May/June
