Notes

Primary navigation

  • Created two models: 1) based on traditional services listing and 2) action-oriented

  • Card Sorting:

    • held card sorting sessions open to library staff on Friday 2/8 and Monday 2/11

    • focused on how to organize all of the content, including services

    • had specific questions about DSC/Scholars' Studio content and how that will fit into the broader organization

  • User Testing:

    • did user testing on the two navigation models on Wednesday 2/13.

    • had 23 participants - still reviewing the data

    • initial reaction: need to figure out how to categorize services related to teaching - students often went to these categories to find things

Organizing content for specific areas

A handful of areas were identified as having content that the group was unsure how to handle. We need to meet with these groups individually and discuss how to organize their content on the website and where their content is similar and should be streamlined with other areas.

  • DSC - David Lacy will follow up with Matt about all of the DSC content, much of which does not exist yet because they are still working out service planning for Charles

  • LRS - Cynthia Schwarz (Unlicensed) will follow with Steven Bell. We are scheduled to visit the LRS Dept Heads meeting on Wednesday 2/20.

  • RDS - Cynthia Schwarz (Unlicensed) will schedule time with Gretchen to review

  • Scholarly Communication - Cynthia Schwarz (Unlicensed) will scheduled time with Annie to review

Outcome for checkin meeting

  • Decide on the navigation model based on the user feedback collected on 2/13

Integration with Library Search

  • Jackie Sipes is going to meet with Emily and Chad to discuss the integration of website content into Library Search

  • The search results is the third component after navigation and homepage that we want to study during this intensive.

Next meeting: Monday, February 24 at 10:00am
