Discovery updates 6/18/2019

Last week, the Library Search team released new updates and bug fixes to the production site. For full details, see Blacklight release notes 6/12/2019.

In addition to the changes above, we’re in the process of preparing new features to add in the beginning of July. In this upcoming July release, we will integrate the Databases A-Z content into the Library Search results.

It will also include additional changes to the navigational layout. With the inclusion of databases, the search menu was in danger of becoming too crowded, so we made the decision to eliminate the distinction between “Books” and “More” and instead have a single category labeled “Books & Media” within the Library Search.

We will also continue to have filter options for additional resource types in the “bento box” display, with a new design.

This is part of an ongoing collaboration with Jackie Sipes, Rachel Cox, and the Website & Library Search User Experience Research Group. We also continue to work on updating the request functionality in the Library Search for BookBot retrievals as well as other preparations for the opening of Charles Library later in the summer, including integrations with the new library website.

Library staff may continue to provide input about the Library Search via tul-web-support@temple.edu.
